1947 Harley Knucklehead 1

I owned a 47 Knuckle EL 61 cube back in the mid 70's. I traded my first harley, a 59 Sportster for it plus a 100 bucks for the mousetrap that was on the bike. Total price back then you ask?

 Seven Hundred bucks. Try that today, more like 30-50 thousand if you can find an original.

 I regret to say I sold that bike,and 40 years later  I still have nightmares about it.

 It was a 70's chopper hardtail,30 over springer front end extended with ford radius rods,Metallic Orange paint all over,Brown King and queen seat and came with 15 inch Apehanger Bars and 16 inch rear rubber.

 I changed the Bars to Drag bars,and  learned to figure 8 that scoot with one hand within a country road width.

No front brake and a hard corner would start the front end to do the PoGo, there was a knack to driving a chopper back then,one that few have,and I have managed to maintain.

 As much as I think todays choppers look nice and are the best of high tech,give me a road worn Old School chop that was  built on shoestring budget,and I will show you a owner that needs that bike to live as much as they need their heart.

The Thrill Is On

On any Sunday was a film that helped to ignite my 40 plus year obsession with motorcycling.

This film seems to capture more of the essence of the golden days.Hard to admit I was a part of that 70's post hippy era but,I was and I survived.

 Triumph and BSA  were very dominant in the day,until the Harley Sportster came to the dirt, and the race was on !!

 Take a walk back ,toss on some Hedrix,Zepplin,or Heep and enjoy the ride!

I have followed the TT races here since the 1960's. There is no other track in the world that can compare with The Isle of Mann. Men and Machine pushed to their limits in a beautiful and sometimes deadly backdrop that can only be The Isle. This is a definite on my bucketlist!

He is absolutely right! something needs to be done about the increasing amount of Paranoid,overzealous Police officers that are increasing in numbers in the United States.

 Every day, rouge police overreact, causing pain and suffering to those they were sworn to protect.

 Instead of policing their own,they seem to bend to peer pressure of the police brotherhood and accept or ignore their comrades wrong doings.

 Yes I realize the world is full of Bad Guys and precautions need to be taken,but for God sakes "USE SOME COMMON SENSE" This man showed much more restraint than I or many others would have.

 My heart goes out to this man, and others whom unfortunately  have suffered the loss of their Beloved pet, friend and companion, at the hands of those who are Unqualified and grossly negligent in upholding the Law, as it was meant to be upheld.
